The Jordanian Method for

Treatment of Diabetes

The Jordanian-American Method represents the latest scientific discovery in the field of stem cell utilization for treatment of Type 1 Diabetes. The team of Stem Cells Arabia in collaboration with the department of Interventional Radiology at the Royal Medical Services, Al Khalidi Medical Center, and our collaborators at the University of Illinois at Chicago (College of Medicine) were successfully able to halt the auto-immune attack on pancreatic beta cells in addition to stem cell transplantation in the pancreas.
The Jordanian-American Method depends on two main aspects:
1. Specific purified population of stem cells from the diabetic patient, capable of differentiating into specialized pancreatic cells, are transplanted into the patient's pancreas directly using interventional radiology without the need for an invasive surgery. The transplanted stem cells possess high regeneration and differentiation capabilities. Therefore they are able to naturally differentiate into pancreatic insulin- producing beta cells and regulatory alpha cells in addition to other types of pancreatic cells that can regenerate the damaged pancreatic tissue.
2. This method depends on halting the auto-immune response on the pancreas to prevent the attack of the transplanted stem cells.
To this date, no side effects have been reported from any of the diabetic patients that have been treated. The follow up period lasted from 17-45 months post treatment. Nevertheless, the treatment of Type 1 Diabetes using stem cells remain under research and development and has not been approved by the Jordanian Ministry of Health as an official form of treatment. Therefore we are in need of further clinical trials and studies to understand how diabetic patients can benefit from this form of treatment.
